The Queensland University of Technology has commissioned Wallis Social Research to conduct surveys with 3,000 families across Australia with children from six months to six years of age. This study aims to gain insights into the usage of digital technologies by young children and explore the impact of technology use.
The results of the evaluation will provide crucial evidence of potential opportunities and problems presented by digital technologies and inform recommendations for policy and practice concerned with the wellbeing of young children.
This ongoing research will contact participants each year for four years by telephone or email to participate in a series of annual surveys.
The ACODA Wave 2 survey opens for the first cohort of respondents in early October 2024. The survey is now closed for this cohort. A second cohort will be invited to complete their Wave 2 survey in February 2025.
How long will the survey take?
This online survey will take you approximately 30 minutes to complete.
Why should I take part?
The ACODA research will explore the use of digital technologies by young Australian children and their families, and the impact of this use.
Your participation will provide crucial evidence for our research into potential opportunities and problems presented by digital technologies and inform recommendations for policy and practice concerned with the wellbeing of young children.
If you complete the survey prior to the closing date, you will also receive a $50 eGift card.
Participating in this survey is voluntary, and your decision to complete this survey (or not) will not affect any government payments or services you receive. You can also withdraw from the research at any time without penalty.
How do I know which cohort I’m in?
You will be invited to complete your second survey based on when you completed your first survey.
The first cohort of respondents are those who completed the first survey between 1 October 2023 and 31 December 2023. This cohort will be contacted to participate in the survey in October 2024 and will have until 8 December 2024 to complete it. The survey is now closed for this cohort.
The second cohort of respondents are those who completed the first survey between 1 January 2024 and 30 April 2024. This cohort will be contacted to complete the second survey in February 2025.
