Wallis are conducting the Understanding Victoria's Biosecurity System survey on behalf of Agriculture Victoria to help them understand organisation's and individual's beliefs about Victoria's Biosecurity System.

The survey aims to review how government, industry and community collectively contribute to the maintenance of the biosecurity system that underpins the prosperity of agriculture in Victoria.

Biosecurity in Victoria means the exclusion, eradication or management of pests and disease that pose a risk to our economy, environment, cultural and social values, including human health.

Why have you been invited to participate in this survey?
We are seeking involvement from people with knowledge of and experiences protecting Victoria’s plants, animals and land from pest, weed and disease threats. We want to talk to people from across the agriculture supply chain from growers and producers, to sellers such as wholesalers and retails, to people involved in the transport and distribution of produce, and to land managers, researchers, policy makers and key personnel in peak bodies and community organisations.

What does the interview involve?
If you agree to participate, Wallis Consulting Group will invite you to complete a survey that will take no longer than 15 minutes. The survey can be completed via hard copy, online or over the telephone. The survey will be used to understand your perceptions and viewpoints.

The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Participation in the survey is voluntary. The information you provide does not identify you in any way, and your responses are compiled anonymously.

What questions will I be asked?
You will be asked about your experiences and knowledge of biosecurity in Victoria.

How are these surveys being paid for?

How will my personal information be used?
The survey will be seeking your views on biosecurity in Victoria and is confidential. With your permission, however, the survey may be recorded solely for quality control purposes. All information will be de-identified in the report. This means that information you provide will be aggregated with responses provided by other participants so that individual responses cannot be identified.

Where did you obtain my name and contact details?Participants for the survey have been obtained from several sources. These include a commercial provider of business data registries as well as a database of agricultural businesses and stakeholders maintained by Agriculture Victoria. In addition, a number of stakeholder groups with an interest in Victoria’s biosecurity have invited people in their networks to complete the survey. In such cases, the names and contact details of people in these networks have NOT been passed onto Wallis.
